“That Name”

Lindsey Vanlandingham

Well what in hell are the chances

That you would walk into this bar

I’m on my second round of whiskey

When I look up and there you are

You say I hope that you remember

Well how could I forget

You introduce yourself just to be sure

In that moment all I know is regret

*

I recognize those eyes

I recognize that smile

How could I forget that face

But for the life of me I don’t recognize that name

*

You’ve got something on your finger

Something that ain’t mine

For a second I can’t believe it

I wish I could turn back time

You laugh and talk like its nothing

I don’t remember you this carefree

But I remember you talk of your future

And I remember I thought it’d be me

*

I recognize those eyes

I recognize that smile

How could I forget that face

But for the life of me I don’t recognize that name
