“Chain Smoking Pain”

Lindsey Vanlandingham

I tossed all your pictures
Threw away your love notes
But I dug them out later
Just to read what you wrote

I heard you moved on
But I had to make sure
So I went to the bar
Just to see you with her

*

It’s like chain smoking pain
Guess I like how it tastes
When I breathe in another
Of the words that you break

It’s like drinking one more
When I’ve had one too many
Why do I lose all control
Til I forget I had any

*

I cried like a baby
I cursed like a sailor
Then I wrote you a love song
To make sure I remember

*

It’s like chain smoking pain
Guess I like how it tastes
When I breathe in another
Of the words that you break

It’s like drinking one more
When I’ve had one too many
Why do I lose all control
Til I forget I had any

*

They may save me from smoking
They may save me from booze
But there ain’t anything strong enough
To save me from you

*

I’m chain smoking pain
Guess I like how it tastes
When I breathe in another
Of the words that you break

I’m drinking one more
When I’ve had one too many
Why do I lose all control
Til I forget I had any
